Coach Harris was taught the love of the game of volleyball by his uncle and has played or coached for the past 30 years since. Coach Harris went on to graduate from UMCP with a degree in Computer Science. He joined VAVA in 2020 as an assistant and returns this year as a head coach.

His goal in coaching volleyball is to instill a lifelong love for the game through the development of transferable skills including adaptability, emergent learning, ability to cooperate and the ability to manage complexity. A “Team First” philosophy is key to building a strong and successful team. A team in which each player can realize their potential within a challenging, supportive and safe environment. An environment where players are encouraged to learn through failure and can develop the skills and confidence to continually improve every facet of their game.

His coaching experiences include high school, multiple women’s USAV teams and the girls club. Coach Harris has played on multiple USAV and 9 Man teams and looks forward to bringing his experience and passion for the game to the next generation of players.
