Jayne Carter
Coach Jayne is beginning her first year of coaching with VAVA but has been playing for almost 12 years. She played OH/all-around and helped lead her high school varsity team to states twice and won the state title her senior year. While Coach Jayne did not play college volleyball, she has consistently been playing pickup and tournaments with her closest friends since she high school. Her favorite format is women’s 6’s but has grown to love outdoor women’s doubles and reverse coed 4s. As a long time player, she is passionate about mental health in athletes. One of Coach Jayne’s goals for this season as a new coach is to foster a safe mental health environment and develop mental strength and confidence in both play but also life for her players. She is certified to provide Mental Health First Aid.
Coach Jayne recently graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and has her RN license. She is currently waiting to begin her masters program at GMU in Health Informatics Management. In addition to assistant coaching, she is continuing her part-time work at an orthopedic group learning about orthopedic injuries and healthcare software. Her hobbies outside of volleyball include baking/cooking, gardening, reading, and video gaming.
